We were thrilled to be invited to “take over” the Hilton Waterfront Wedding & Events Boutique for the month! We dreamed up a fluttery butterfly scene inspired by the latest re-make of the Great Gatsby! With purple, more specifically amethyst, being the next trending color, we wanted to incorporate that along with gardeny greens to create a glamorous and luxurious feel accented by an organic and natural complement. Thanks Jeremy of Lucero Photography for shooting the details for us!

Many thanks to the Hilton Waterfront for allowing us to exercise our creativity!

A Cupcake Station with Simply Sweet Cakery

Wednesday, March 30th, 2011

We are always excited about creating design that incorporates florals and other yummy looking things for our clients; however every once in a while we get to help one of our industry friends create something fun and unique. Enter Brooke with Simply Sweet Cakery- we LOVE LOVE LOVE her and we should since we share an office together! Not only is her company sweet but so is she!!!

So Brooke called me up (Natalie that is) and said she had an idea for a new treat station that would be so perfect for weddings and events; well of course my ears were listening but so was my stomach! A Cupcake Station- now that is brilliant! Brooke decided that a photoshoot would be a great way to get some awesome pictures for her website and also test out the concept on some guinea pigs (or friends- whatever you may call them).

I was thrilled to provide some nice floral arrangements for the shoot. The ever talented Candice of Mark Brooke Photography was there to capture it all~ thanks Candice!

Choose your favorite flavor!

The delicious toppings for your cupcake!

Step 1, 2 and 3! Yummy!

Bon Appetit!

Featured Photo Shoot~ Love Bound!

Thursday, September 9th, 2010

Is it really September??? It is hard to believe that Labor Day has come and gone and the last two days have left me feeling like I want to put on a cozy sweater, make a cup of tea, and curl up on the couch with the pups! Oh the Fall, so excited that it has arrived VERY early this year. Watch as I speak I am sure the weatherman is projecting 90 degree weather tomorrow just to kill my dreams… Dallas don’t upset me!

We are so thrilled to have been featured on Labor Day by the fabulous Green Wedding Shoes, this shoot was absolutely adorable and some great inspiration for the couple looking to do an engagement shoot that is unique and not the traditional beach style shoot. If you are getting married by the water, talk to your wedding planner about renting a Duffy Boat to capture some amazing romantic pictures with y0u and your soul mate. How awesome would that be??? Pretty awesome if you ask me!

Our inspiration for this shoot was in fact Labor Day (thanks Jen for posting it on actual Labor Day~ couldn’t have wished it better) we wanted to show a different side from the traditional nautical theme and incorporated some vintage elements, buttons, and some fresh lemons.

Think about using this color palette of navy, yellow, white, and a hint of red for your upcoming coastal wedding. I really am loving yellow these days and this shoot made me love it even more.

Check it out:

Brooke with Simply Sweet Cakery made the most amazing cookies with our shoots theme and also some insanely delicious chocolate covered caramels with sea salt sprinkled on top- can you say TO DIE FOR??? We ate like 15 on the drive home. She makes amazing custom cakes for weddings and any other excuse to throw a party. Check her out!

We did a custom Bout for our guy with a dried mushroom, jute rope, billy ball, and military button~ too cute!

This was an adorable bouquet complete with buttons, dried mushrooms, and handle treatment- we were thrilled to do the styling and floral design on this shoot. The back of the boat was done up with nautical rope and gorgeous orchids, a great idea for not only a boat but if you are looking for a backdrop for your wedding design to go behind your wedding cake, sweetheart table, or at your place card table. All great places to bring in your overall theme or feel for your wedding or special event.

The table display was so much fun and we brought in some vintage details with the antique bottles and basket. We love to use other items for decor such as fruits, vegetables, shells, rocks, or anything organic and natural, it is a little unexpected and also helps create texture and interest. We always recommend to our wedding client’s to use something other than flowers in their wedding decor.

The bouquet was a mix of hydrangea, cymbidium orchids, thai yellow orchids, billy balls, and sweet peas~ the colors are so fresh and yummy!

Check out the adorable sign made by the girls of Typologie & Co. If you are looking for custom invitations or signs for your event they make adorable stuff. They are also in the same building as our design studio in Newport Beach, perfect to meet both companies in 1 day!

Candice with Mark Brooke Photography is so amazing! She is super fun to work with and always makes our client’s super comfortable and thrilled with their pictures from their wedding. Definitely check out her and Mark’s work here.

Hope you had a great Labor Day Weekend spent either at the beach or BBQ’ing!

Thanks Again to the Fabulous Vendors on this shoot:

Happy Planning,

So when my friends David and Drexelle of D. Park Photography approached me about doing an interview about A Good Affair Wedding & Event Production and why a bride should hire a coordinator I was so pumped! I love to share my experience in weddings and events and thought it would be some nice information for brides that were beginning their wedding planning. We ended up doing a photo shoot as well and I have to say I felt like a super famous person (ok maybe for just a minute) that was getting the royal treatment! It is always nerve racking to be in front of a video camera (I felt like a deer in headlights) but sitting their and talking to Drexelle was so comfortable that everything just came right out of my mouth- well maybe there were a few flubs, Drexelle don’t tell!

Check out the full interview on their blog

I have worked with D. Park before and I refer them to client’s but it was so different to be the one in front of the camera. We decided to head to Old Towne Orange to do the photo shoot for the interview and the website. We found this awesome brick wall next to the back of a restaurant (ask me about tripping over rat traps- that was a fun one!) and I had to ask a poor cook who was just enjoying his break if he could move out of the way so we could drag in our props and take over the place, he kindly obliged and we were off and running with the shoot.

My good friend Kelley with Lavender’s Flowers helped me out with a beautiful bouquet that matched my shoes perfectly- Super love that.

Being a Goof-Ball!!!!!

For all your brides out there, check out the video on how to select  a planner that is the perfect fit for you and the value of hiring a Professional Coordinator:

I hope that these tips help all you brides out there. Often you hear people say that you don’t need a wedding planner but what I have to say is yes you do! We help you save money, time, stress, and so much more. Give it up to the professionals and let us work your party so you can enjoy every minute with your guests- trust me it will be the FASTEST day of your life! So sit back, relax, and take it all in.

I look forward to being a part of your special day!
