Floral Design

Gray and yellow was quite the popular color scheme. It’s chic and modern, yet fun and light! Perfect for any wedding day!
Check out a few other gray & yellow weddings we worked on! Whitney and Chris at the Ritz-Carlton in Laguna Niguel, and Julie and Mike at the Oak Canyon Nature Preserve in Anaheim.

But here is a beautiful and simple gray and yellow wedding fully designed and executed by yours truly, A Good Affair! Thanks to Kenny Grill Photography for taking the time to come out and capture these wonderful details for us!

We designed a combination of high and low centerpieces, spread throughout the room. We accented the king’s table with both heights and a mix of candles to give it extra interest. Cut lemons lined the short centerpieces, while whole lemons filled the tall.

Beautiful blooms of yellow and white orchids adorned the curly willow branches. The curling branches giving the relatively static piece a more organic feel and natural movement.

We choose to go with white chivari chairs and cushions to give the satin gray linens and canary yellow napkins a nice contrast. The white chairs were a nice clean and crisp statement in and of itself as well!

The bride is a teacher so she included these adorable signs and mini chalkboards as her table numbers.

We came up with this fun way to setup escort cards. Run various ribbons across an empty picture frame and attach the cards using tiny clothespins!

The reception space had a small stage, so we setup the cake and the candy buffet there as a nice focal point. In keeping with the gray and yellow, we did the same for the candy. Gray candy is hard to find without it being M&Ms or metallic. But we did good on this one! The bride loved it and got all her favorite candies in! The wooden crates really tied together well with the table signs, and were still a nice clean look.

Hand fluffed tissue pompoms hung as a full backdrop behind the candy station. A real treat to also have had a mirror behind it too! It added nice depth to the entire setup. We love the touch of whimsy these pompoms add! It looks much like the white and yellow mums used in the low centerpieces.

A matching cake by Simply Sweet Cakery. Simple and clean lines with gray ribbon, fresh flowers, and fresh cut lemons. Adorable!

We had a blast coming up with these ideas and then seeing them come to life for the big day! We hope you enjoyed this journey into A Good Affair’s event design! Let us know if we can help you plan your next big event! We love taking on new ideas and challenges!

The A Good Affair girls have been so slammed with Summer weddings that we haven’t had much time to share some of the awesome results of our hard work! One of our fave weddings last month was Crystal & Sandy’s gorgeous wedding at Franciscan Gardens! We had a fabulous team of vendors by our side to help bring all of our designs to life! Kristi with KLK Photography captured the details as well as the stunning Crystal- check out the butterfly shots, I mean really what bride thinks of doing something so darn cool??? Happy Planning,

AGA

Every year we are fortunate to be able to help out a very deserving organization with planning and coordinating their annual banquet. With This Ring is an awesome organization started by a woman, Ali Eastburn, who had a calling to give up her wedding ring to raise money to build a fresh drinking water well in Africa. Now several years later many have given radically to change the lives of people in poor villages who get sick and often die due to parasites and diseases contracted through the water.

This year we had the banquet at the Disneyland Hotel in the Grand Ballroom and it was absolutely lovely! We were happy to do the floral arrangements as well to create a beautiful look for attendees. The food and staff at Disney are always amazing! A Good Affair is honored to be a chosen vendor that they refer for event planning and coordination.

Check out some of the great shots by the uber talented Jaimee of Capturing Moments Photography!

Looking to get engaged soon? If you are looking to get a beautiful engagement ring but also make a difference in someone’s life; check out With This Ring. They frequently have auctions for donated rings and the money goes to building more wells. Check it out here.

Spring has Arrived!

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

Today I had a sudden urge (or perhaps it was a heat spell) to go and pick up some flowers to make an arrangement for the house, Spring has arrived! I went down to the market and found the most amazing French Tulips- can we say inspiration? I could for sure! I also stopped by Shinoda Design Center and found the amazing quilted glass vase- super trendy for 2010!

See other milk glass inspiration for your upcoming wedding or event- love this collection

I love to get inspiration from what is going on around me, this HOT vase really got my creative juices flowing. So often client’s just want glass vases for their event, but I say let your designer offer you other options from milk glass to wrought iron- it adds so much texture to you overall wedding design.

See our portfolio for some different samples that might get your creative juices going!

So you ready to see what came of this inspirational afternoon????
