Happy Planning!

Here’s to the newlyweds, Mai & David! We had such a wonderful time creating the bright and citrusy wedding design complete with yarn ball accents and paper rosettes. The bright orange and greens came together beautifully! San Juan Capistrano is such a beautiful area to go off and take these romantic pictures as well! One of our favorite reasons Franciscan Gardens is such a great venue to get married at!

Can you say foot fetish?? If you’ve been following our weddings, we’ll ALWAYS try to get the photographer to take these feet shots! But aren’t they oh-so-adorable images?

The bride, Mai, is from Japan. And that’s actually where this cute couple met! We wanted her to be able to incorporate that part of her heritage in this special day, so she had rice crackers from Japan as special favors for each guest too!

Her mom also contributed in doing this amazingly intricate carved melons!

Special thanks to all the vendors!

Remember that fun couple at Franciscan Gardens with a unique and beautiful vintage wedding? Here are the AMAZING details from the big day!! Congrats to Rina and Jason!! We loved working with the creative bride in creating all these wonderful vintage ideas! Check out all the neat details and elements that pulled everything together!

Love these shots by Kenny Grill Photography! Their engagement shots were adorable too!

Don’t forget the video highlights by Crescent Bay Films!

Homemade custom cookies… absolutely adorable!!

Oh happy day!! Check out that neat backdrop they built!

Gotta love these cool vintage finds… Rina is a totally rad antique shopper!
We spent one glorious Sunday morning at the Irvine Antique Market hunting for more vintage goodies!

Can’t go vintage without some burlap… “how sweet it is…”

This dessert station rocked our world! We loved setting up all these yummy sweets in a very homey and rustic feel.

Mother of the bride handmade these beautiful beaded flowers.
They incorporated beautifully into the bouquets we designed with peonies and succulents for the bride and bridesmaids! LOVE that antique brooch too!

Gorgeous white hydrangeas with accents of succulents – an A Good Affair floral creation in nice wooden boxes.

Love these long family style tables… the burlap runner really adds that special touch!

Homemade jam for favors! A wonderfully sweet take home treat for their guests.

What an amazing and detail filled wedding! We had such a great time brainstorming these ideas and seeing it come to fruition! We hope you enjoyed these special touches as well!

No event is possible without the hardwork of amazing vendors! Cheers to a great team!

The beautiful floral arrangements by Lavenders Flowers with unique wax vessels on rustic wooden tables really captured the elegant feel the couple wanted for their special day. Gray and yellow was quite the popular color scheme. It’s chic and modern, yet fun and light! Perfect for any wedding day!
Check out a few other gray & yellow weddings we worked on! Whitney and Chris at the Ritz-Carlton in Laguna Niguel, and Julie and Mike at the Oak Canyon Nature Preserve in Anaheim.

But here is a beautiful and simple gray and yellow wedding fully designed and executed by yours truly, A Good Affair! Thanks to Kenny Grill Photography for taking the time to come out and capture these wonderful details for us!

We designed a combination of high and low centerpieces, spread throughout the room. We accented the king’s table with both heights and a mix of candles to give it extra interest. Cut lemons lined the short centerpieces, while whole lemons filled the tall.

Beautiful blooms of yellow and white orchids adorned the curly willow branches. The curling branches giving the relatively static piece a more organic feel and natural movement.

We choose to go with white chivari chairs and cushions to give the satin gray linens and canary yellow napkins a nice contrast. The white chairs were a nice clean and crisp statement in and of itself as well!

The bride is a teacher so she included these adorable signs and mini chalkboards as her table numbers.

We came up with this fun way to setup escort cards. Run various ribbons across an empty picture frame and attach the cards using tiny clothespins!

The reception space had a small stage, so we setup the cake and the candy buffet there as a nice focal point. In keeping with the gray and yellow, we did the same for the candy. Gray candy is hard to find without it being M&Ms or metallic. But we did good on this one! The bride loved it and got all her favorite candies in! The wooden crates really tied together well with the table signs, and were still a nice clean look.

Hand fluffed tissue pompoms hung as a full backdrop behind the candy station. A real treat to also have had a mirror behind it too! It added nice depth to the entire setup. We love the touch of whimsy these pompoms add! It looks much like the white and yellow mums used in the low centerpieces.

A matching cake by Simply Sweet Cakery. Simple and clean lines with gray ribbon, fresh flowers, and fresh cut lemons. Adorable!

We had a blast coming up with these ideas and then seeing them come to life for the big day! We hope you enjoyed this journey into A Good Affair’s event design! Let us know if we can help you plan your next big event! We love taking on new ideas and challenges!

What can we say about Kate & James? They were such an amazing couple to work with. And Kate’s mom… we fell in love with!! Being a part of this wedding was such a wonderful experience – we’re so happy to have been able to have developed such a close relationship with them that when the big day finally came… we felt like a part of the family, happy and sad, excited and anxious! What were we supposed to do now that all our time together was coming to an end?? Keep in touch of course! :)

We had the pleasure of being the liaison for them since they were planning the whole affair from out-of-state! Destination weddings can be tricky… but we make sure to take away all that stress and make the planning fun and easy!

The beautiful church for the ceremony was St. Norbert’s in Orange, followed by a lovely reception at the Summit House in Fullerton. We were excited to be such an integral part of their wedding doing their full planning and design!

She was a beautiful bride… with such beautiful eyes! (Yes – corny, we know)

LOVE these blue shoes! (They were flats too! Total comfort!)

Amazing floral bouquet by Lavenders Flowers!

Gorgeous detailed cake by Simply Sweet Cakery.

Thanks to all the vendors that made this event that was near and dear to our hearts so amazing and special!!

And we’re back with the amazing photography by Yantz Photography of Julie & Mike’s wedding day! And in the time we’ve been working on getting this spectacular post out to you… we also found out that Julie’s amazing dress by Modern Trousseau was featured on their blog! Be sure to check that out!

Julie & Mike’s wedding took on a natural vintage/rustic feel with grays and yellows, accented with DIY details…

If you’re thinking of other gray and yellow ideas, be sure to check out our design post from another featured wedding!

We loved creating this bouquet with the vintage brooch detail and the jute wrapped around. The white dahlias, scabiosa pods and billy balls made this a fun and rustic bouquet… perfect for the ceremony setting!

A beautiful shot of the happy bride! All wedding moments should be like this…

Gorgeous girls in gray. Gotta love that pop of the yellow!

Oh, the guys. Check out those gray and yellow argyle socks!

An adorable detail for guests to pick up after signing the guest book… Little tissue packets.

The Oak Canyon Nature Preserve in Anaheim… a gorgeous setting for this intimate ceremony.

A cute (and tasty) way to escort your guests to their seats… numbered cookies with a name tag attached! Check out that cool lantern too!!

Can’t do vintage without some mason jars! Love the floating candles in them.

In lieu of a full wedding cake, they decided on a sweets station with cupcakes and an assortment of candies! Love certainly is sweet… the cutest thing is the miniature bride and groom toppers on the top cupcake!

And of course, gotta have some photobooth time!! How adorable the happy couple is! Here’s to many many years of love and happiness!

Without an amazing team of vendors, this day could not have been as wonderful and flawless as it was!

Can we just say how much we loved creating this wedding with the wonderful bride and groom? Harmony and Kyle hosted their wedding and reception for an intimate group of friends and family at their favorite watering hole, O’Malley’s in Seal Beach! Planning, coordinating, and designing a wedding in a pub was definitely a first for us… and we’re keeping our fingers-crossed that it won’t be the last!!

Thanks to Jaimee of Capturing Moments for this special day for Harmony and Kyle! Be sure to check out their awesome engagement pics too!

The bride, Harmony, LOVES the color orange. We had to include it in the bouquet, boutonnieres, and centerpieces.

We wanted to make sure to keep the feel of the floral pieces in line with the feel of the old wood and pub-environment, so we built our centerpieces in crates rather than glass vases or anything too modern.

Love this shot of the happy couple by Capturing Moments!

Love this shot! Check out that “H” and “K” we had covered with moss in the background! Check these out closeup on their sneak peek post! Wedding cake and Guinness groom’s cake by Simply Sweet Cakery.Custom made tags for the mini burlap bags to fill with candy! This motif was used on their invitations created by Darla Marie Designs.

“Love is Sweet”… another handmade detail by A Good Affair!

Hand piped Irish claddagh…

Hand scultped Guinness cake. Both amazing cakes again by Simply Sweet Cakery!

The happy couple!

Cheers to a happy couple!!!! Congrats Harmony and Kyle! We wish you all the best!

Thanks to all the great vendors for putting together a fun-filled night!
