Whether you are a pet owner or simply an animal lover, nothing tugs at the heart strings more than poor animals in need of basic supplies and care, even at shelters. That’s where the A Good Affair team and other amazing vendors came to participate in an amazing event to raise money, donate handmade blankets, pet supplies (and more!) to help and support local organizations, LA Animal Services and the Animal Assistance League of Orange County.

Sweet treats for the pups (by Simply Sweet Cakery) and for the humans.

Happy New Year!!! We wish everyone a safe and prosperous 2011! A Good Affair Wedding & Event Production has so much to be thankful for in 2010 and we can’t wait to kick off an amazing 2011. Our clients have been absolutely amazing and we truly are blessed, thank you thank you thank you for all of your support and faith in us. We wanted to highlight some of our favorite 2010 events- take a look:

Ila and Hiroki has the coolest intimate wedding- we were so fortunate to be featured on Broke Ass Bride’s Blog! Thanks again to Suthi with Picotte Photography for the awesome images.

Jessica and Jacob’s backyard reception is one that I will truly never forget.  Not only are they the sweetest people but the day was very emotional because Jacob’s Mom was nearing the end of her long battle with cancer. They will be having an amazing 2011 with the birth of their first baby! Jaimee with Capturing Moments (for more of Jaimee’s work click here) rocked out AMAZING images as always.

:)

Love this picture of Angela and Josh in Downtown Santa Ana by the Old Courthouse. Thanks to Sheila Angel Photography for the lovely photos.

Monika and Dan’s wedding was just awesome at Rancho Las Lomas! We had the pleasure of working with the fabulous Miguel Pola Photography (for more information on Miguel’s work click here). Gotta throw in another great shot from this wedding- Monika was just stunning on her big day!

Ok we can’t highlight all of our 2010 events or this is going to be WAYYY too long but here is one more that had awesome floral decor provided by A Good Affair.

Stefanie and Richard had their stunning wedding reception at The Center Club. We were fortunate to be able to create custom floral design for them. Their wedding was featured on Wedding Channel.com as a Featured Wedding of the Day! Photography by the uber talented Candice of Mark Brooke Photography (for more of Mark Brooke’s work click here).

Hope you enjoyed some highlights from 2010! Can’t wait to be a part of so many great weddings in 2012- bring it on!!!!

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays,

~Natalie & AGA

We are so thrilled to share with all of you a fabulous new book that we at A Good Affair just love! Often when you see wedding related books the information isn’t always what we Professional Wedding Planners would consider to be the best advice. This book changes that perspective. Barbara Wallace is a Master Bridal Consultant who has had an amazing career working with exceptional budgets and clients. Not only is her perspective spot on in my mind, but she has taken it even further with this book. Offering 3 points of view for the bride- planner, stylist, and photographer. Genius! So without further ado, take a look at, Beautiful Bride from Every Angle!

BBFEA

Barbara is accompanied by Annie Withers and Lars Wanberg who are both experienced professionals in the wedding business. The images are absolutely breathtaking. The book is broken into 3 parts all written from each of their perspectives. Not only does it discuss wedding planning, but Barbara also discusses how to stay calm, cool, and collected throughout the planning process. Something we see all too often are stressed brides with demanding family members, Barbara gives you great advice for how to deal with such friends and loved ones. She also has a great priority list chart that allows you to rank what is most important to you and your groom and where you can compromise as well.

One of my favorite photos from the book:

We highly recommend this book to all brides, particularly if you are not able to afford a planner. This does not take our place but it does give you some great knowledge so you can make the best decisions for your wedding.

Happy Monday to all! What better way to start off the week than with an AMAZING review from a past client. Really know how to get a girl excited and feeling on top of the world. We were fortunate enough to work with this amazing couple on their wedding the end of last month (more to come on them soon so stay tuned). Check out what the Bride had to say on   A Good Affair’s listing on The Knot as well as several others.

week of wedding coordinator   posted 11/8/2010 (updated 11/8/2010)

Natalie did a wonderful job as our “week-of” coordinator. My fiancé and I planned most of the wedding ourselves and we were looking for someone to help make sure our wedding day ran smoothly. Our main goal throughout our wedding planning process was to have fun and make our 500-guest, Armenian orthodox wedding as stress free as possible. My fiancé and I knew we would need some serious help on our wedding day to pull off a fun, minimally stressful day. Natalie played a major role in making this possible, as she not only assisted us during the week of our wedding, but she even came to our house a couple months before to help us iron out details. She was flexible with our rigid work schedules and graciously reminded us on several occasions when we forgot to do things. In the days before the wedding, Natalie struck a good balance between patience and persistence as we all worked to tie up the loose ends. Still, it was on our wedding day when Natalie really shined. She and her assistant arrived early to set up. They helped to resolve some serious safety issues with rental companies while setting up a hall for 500 people and dealing with our family members who were also there to help. Additionally, she and her assistant stayed over their contracted time to ensure that we completed our wedding program and were free to enjoy the rest of the night. We so appreciated Natalie’s organized, yet flexible approach and her easy going character. She managed many demanding guests, finicky family members, and adamant vendors with aplomb and sweet-natured humor. Although we thanked Natalie repeatedly on the day of our wedding for all of her efforts in making our special day run smoothly, we wanted to sing her praises in a more public forum. For those looking for an assertive and flexible person to guide and assist you throughout your wedding process, we highly recommend Natalie and her team to ensure that your wedding is everything that you wanted. Thanks Natalie!

Getting reviews from clients likes this is so rewarding because it lets us know that our services are valued and important. So often I hear people say “well we don’t have the budget for a wedding planner,” our response to that is how can you pass up the service? A Professional Wedding Planner not only helps you tie all the details together but we save you money along the way and a very large headache. Why do you want to work your own party??? We are insurance for one of the largest expenses you will have and hoping that it will all work out and fall into place is a scary risk. Always insure your investments- hire a professional planner, certified by the Association of Bridal Consultants and give yourself the best gift- peace of mind.

We would love to share our knowledge, experience, design expertise, etiquette advice, people management, contract negotiations, and so much more. Let’s get together and chat about your big day and how we can help you from being an exhausted and overwhelmed bride~ you deserve it!

Happy Friday Everyone! Today is a great day because it’s my (Natalie) birthday! I can’t believe how fast time is flying and how much older I am getting. Looking forward to spending some quality time with family and friends this weekend and partying it up tonight!

:)

We had an awesome Wedding Factory last night down at the office and hope to do Wedding Factory 2 in January! Many brides came out and enjoyed exclusive discounts for being there. Delicious sweets were provided by Simply Sweet Cakery and Simply Layered Cake Design that were Yum-O. Pictures to come on the blog soon so stay tuned.

On to today’s Friday Fab Find- A Good Affair received a call from WEtv the other day regarding a chance to be on a new show they are doing that is granting a 2nd wedding for a couple who experienced something horrible during their first wedding. For instance a car accident right before the wedding or deployment, ect. A Good Affair Wedding & Event Production has been fortunate enough to have had very successful weddings and no tragic stories such as these BUT I am sure someone knows a deserving couple who would be the perfect one’s for this show. So if it’s you or someone you know here is all the information for you to spread the word.

Hope you can spread the word to someone who would benefit from this show!

Featured Photo Shoot~ Love Bound!

Thursday, September 9th, 2010

Is it really September??? It is hard to believe that Labor Day has come and gone and the last two days have left me feeling like I want to put on a cozy sweater, make a cup of tea, and curl up on the couch with the pups! Oh the Fall, so excited that it has arrived VERY early this year. Watch as I speak I am sure the weatherman is projecting 90 degree weather tomorrow just to kill my dreams… Dallas don’t upset me!

We are so thrilled to have been featured on Labor Day by the fabulous Green Wedding Shoes, this shoot was absolutely adorable and some great inspiration for the couple looking to do an engagement shoot that is unique and not the traditional beach style shoot. If you are getting married by the water, talk to your wedding planner about renting a Duffy Boat to capture some amazing romantic pictures with y0u and your soul mate. How awesome would that be??? Pretty awesome if you ask me!

Our inspiration for this shoot was in fact Labor Day (thanks Jen for posting it on actual Labor Day~ couldn’t have wished it better) we wanted to show a different side from the traditional nautical theme and incorporated some vintage elements, buttons, and some fresh lemons.

Think about using this color palette of navy, yellow, white, and a hint of red for your upcoming coastal wedding. I really am loving yellow these days and this shoot made me love it even more.

Check it out:

Brooke with Simply Sweet Cakery made the most amazing cookies with our shoots theme and also some insanely delicious chocolate covered caramels with sea salt sprinkled on top- can you say TO DIE FOR??? We ate like 15 on the drive home. She makes amazing custom cakes for weddings and any other excuse to throw a party. Check her out!

We did a custom Bout for our guy with a dried mushroom, jute rope, billy ball, and military button~ too cute!

This was an adorable bouquet complete with buttons, dried mushrooms, and handle treatment- we were thrilled to do the styling and floral design on this shoot. The back of the boat was done up with nautical rope and gorgeous orchids, a great idea for not only a boat but if you are looking for a backdrop for your wedding design to go behind your wedding cake, sweetheart table, or at your place card table. All great places to bring in your overall theme or feel for your wedding or special event.

The table display was so much fun and we brought in some vintage details with the antique bottles and basket. We love to use other items for decor such as fruits, vegetables, shells, rocks, or anything organic and natural, it is a little unexpected and also helps create texture and interest. We always recommend to our wedding client’s to use something other than flowers in their wedding decor.

The bouquet was a mix of hydrangea, cymbidium orchids, thai yellow orchids, billy balls, and sweet peas~ the colors are so fresh and yummy!

Check out the adorable sign made by the girls of Typologie & Co. If you are looking for custom invitations or signs for your event they make adorable stuff. They are also in the same building as our design studio in Newport Beach, perfect to meet both companies in 1 day!

:)

Candice with Mark Brooke Photography is so amazing! She is super fun to work with and always makes our client’s super comfortable and thrilled with their pictures from their wedding. Definitely check out her and Mark’s work here.

Hope you had a great Labor Day Weekend spent either at the beach or BBQ’ing!

Thanks Again to the Fabulous Vendors on this shoot:
